Runs Contributed

Here could be the most important Offensive stat:
the goal of Baseball is to score runs, right?
so for this stat, you would add RUNS and RBI together and than minus HRs to show how many runs they contributed to getting.
You minus HRs because if you didn't, that one run on the scoreboard wold count for 2 in this stat, since you get an RBI and run for a HR.

For example:
Alex Rodriguez had 143 HRs, and 156 RBI which equals 299 - 54 HRs= 245 Runs Contributed.

The other MVP, Jimmy Rollins, had the following score:
139 Rs + 94 RBI - 30 HR = 203 Runs Contributed.

Here is another great baseball stat. You could also call this one Runs Contributed. I will use the 1970 season of Johnny Bench. The Reds scored 775 Runs and they had 726 RBI. So their Run Factor is Runs divided by Runs plus RBI or 775 divided by 1501 equals .51632245. If you take this number and multiply it by Johnny's Runs plus RBI which is 245 (97 Runs + 148 RBI. So .51632245 times 245 equals 126.50 Runs. If you do this for every player on the team and add them up it equals the Runs the team scored for the season. Let me know what you think.

That's an interesting stat, but I think a measure of percent would better suit that to show how good a player is for his team. If I see a player has a 98.3 score for this, I can't really tell if he's that good. It depends how many runs his team scored (If a player had 100, but his team scored 900 runs, it's not as good as a player who carried more of a load and had 100 on a 500 team), and how many runs he scored compared to other players on his team, if he was the offensive leader. If I saw that a player had 60% of his teams runs, I know he's a great player on a bad team; or if a player has 40%, he has a good number because I know that is a good percentage on a good team. It still depends on how good his team is, but a percent gives a better number to compare to players on similar teams.

Thanks for the comment
